The 6.5 PRC TC Encore is a fantastic newer cartridge. PRC stands for Precision Rifle Cartridge. The Encore is the only platform rated for the high pressure that the 6.5 PRC utilizes. The Contender and G2’s aren’t rated to manage the kind of pressure that this uses.

- 147 Match ammunition
The cost of factory ammunition is rated at medium to high around $35 -45
Load Data 6.5 PRC
Powder charge 45-58 grain depending on the weight of projectile and powder. Utilizes magnum cartridge powders.
Cost to reload is rated at medium because the brass is harder to find.
6.5 PRC Barrel Life
Barrel life for the Hornady 6.5 PRC is on the shorter side. It is shoving a lot of powder through a small bore diameter, which will lead to a shorter barrel life when compared to a 6.5 Creedmoor.
This is thought of as the big brother the to Creedmoor. This uses a magnum style bolt face, but is still a short action. Just more space capacity to hold more powder which increases velocity.
Suggested Match Grade Machine contour is Heavy Factory or Muzzleloader.
Shooting the TC Encore 6.5 PRC – Incredible Performance
We were able to shoot .33 MOA with the ELD-X factory ammunition, and .3 MOA with the ELD-M ammunition at 100 yards.
6.5 PRC vs 6.5 CM
When comparing the Creedmoor to the PRC, use the 6.5 PRC if your goal is hunting. It has a higher muzzle velocity with the same bullet selection. Higher energy and more terminal performance at longer ranges.
If you are doing competition shooting then we would lean more to the 6.5 CM.
